Today was a milestone at Whispering Winds. We officially introduced Charity's kittens to the kitten milk bar.
There was a little sniffing… a little uncertainty… and then four tiny noses were buried in the pan as if they'd been doing it their entire lives.
Charity watched nearby, and if cats could smile, I'm convinced she was. Raising six hungry kittens is exhausting, and today she finally got a little help. Motherhood just became a little easier.
Watching those tiny tails wiggle while they discovered a whole new way to eat reminded me that growing up happens in the smallest moments. One day they're completely dependent on Mom. The next, they're proudly lapping milk from a pan with all the confidence in the world.
Then Gentleman was full, and started to wander. But…
Kitten: "Hold me."
Susan: "Come here, sweetheart."
Kitten: Looks at paw… "One second. I have standards."
Then… lick, lick, lick… "Okay, now you may pick me up."
Just another day at Whispering Winds—where even weaning is something worth celebrating.
As for Charity? She's perfectly content to disappear into the stack of grain for a well-earned nap while her little explorers wear themselves out. After all… motherhood deserves a coffee break too.
These aren't just kitten updates. They're little windows into life at Whispering Winds.
Every kitten that finds its way here depends on donations for food, vet care, and a safe place to grow up.
