UPDATE: Denver (aka Yoda) has found a forever home. We are currently raising funds and have transport secured for the end of October. We are so excited that he is going to a loving home where he will be a spoiled indoor cat.
We found this itty bitty kitty huddled next to our outbuilding, scared and injured on a Sunday evening. He had been bitten by a rattlesnake and his head looked like a pumpkin. We attempted to call our vet, but he was out of town. So, I took a warm bucket of water and cloth and soaked his face until the bite area opened and drained. He was rushed to the vet early the next morning, and rather than give up and recommend he be put to sleep, our wonderful vet accepted the challenge to save him. Thanks to a gracious donor all expenses were covered so we could focus on giving him a 2nd chance at life. On his follow up visit, 10 days later, the vet was excited about the progress and said that not only would Denver make a full recovery, but he would have full eyesight in the eye closes to the bite that we thought would be permanently damaged. This itty bitty was our first big challenge in the cat world. We are so excited at his progress. He will be coming up for adoption as soon as the rest of the wound heals. We are slowly taking him outside to meet the other kittens, but will need to be an indoor cat because of some special needs. |
